About Ezy-Mount®
Back in 1999 after purchasing
my first BMW a R1100RT, and putting
a few night-time miles on I started
to wonder what is wrong with
my headlamp:
I couldn’t see very far. If I couldn't
see, could anyone see me? So I
began looking for a mounting kit
and auxiliary lamps and to my
dismay, found very little that
appealed.
The First Ezy-Mount® Kit Was
Created
A trip to Home Depot,
a small piece of sheet metal, a
few hours of work and a several
wasted pieces later, I had something
secured under the
nose that would allow me
to mount lights; I could not
see it after mounting, so that satisfied
my desired OEM look. While
I was happy with the overall look,
I was concerned about what light
would fit this application without
compromising movement of fender,
front forks etc.?
The unique shape of the
PIAA® 1100PX fit
the profile very well and 1400X
versions could be adapted with
a front fender change. This way
we had one for distance needs and
one for fog and wet weather needs.
After understanding the performance
of the PIAA® lamps and seeing firsthand
the quality of workmanship put
into their products, I decided
my brackets would have to be just
as good. They would have to be
of uncompromising quality and designed
to be 100% corrosion free; I
would not design any of my kits
for use with lights any other than
PIAA®.
From Then to Now
That was over six-years ago
and 1000's of Ezy-Mount® kits later.
The first kit ever produced, the
R1100RT is still in-demand even
after two new models of the RT
had been produced. Ezy-Mount kits
can also be found in PIAA®
PowerSports
Light Kits.
I moved from my traditional mounting
methods, to develop kits for the
F650GS and the R1200GS models.
The F650 kit uses cold rolled
steel, and the 1200GS kit adapted
the use of T6 Aluminum requiring
CNC equipment to produce.
In order to maintain an OEM look,
all Ezy-Mount® kits place light
mounts high and in most cases tucked
inside fairing panels, protected and isolated from lower fork movement
of the various bike models. New
designs are currently in-work that
will add to our selection and/or
improve current designs.
The goal of Ezy-Mount® kits have
been to keep installations
simple,
so that the non-technical type
of rider could achieve the mechanical
installation results without compromise.
